Diploma in Exercise and Sports Sciences

The Diploma in Exercise and Sport Sciences (DESS) is a post-baccalaureate program designed for non-HMS-related degree holders who intend to take physical education or exercise and sport science as another area of specialization. This 39-unit coursework comprises 18 units of compulsory courses and 21 units of qualified electives. DESS students are required to complete the program in three (3) years with a general weighted average (GWA) of 2.00 or better. Successful completion of the DESS program qualifies an individual to proceed to the MSHMS program.

Admission Requirements

The DESS program is open to students with undergraduate degrees not related to the field of Human Movement Sciences (i.e., Physical Education, Sports and Exercise Science, Allied Medical Science) and wishing to have exercise and sport sciences as an additional qualification. The selection criteria include the general weighted average obtained in the undergraduate program, any work experience in the field of exercise and sport sciences, motivation, and proficiency in either English or Filipino. Applicants must also pass a written examination and interview.
